Features

  • Easy 1-2-3 Operation: Press the green On/Off button, place the pads as instructed, and press the orange Shock button when advised by the device.
  • SMART Analysis Technology: The FRx automatically analyzes the patient’s ECG and determines whether the detected rhythm is shockable, helping prevent unnecessary shock delivery.
  • Quick Shock Technology: The device can typically deliver a shock within approximately 8 seconds after CPR, supporting rapid emergency treatment.
  • SMART Pads II: The pre-connected SMART Pads II can be used for both adults and children, simplifying emergency preparation.
  • Infant & Child Support: When the optional Infant/Child Key is inserted, the FRx automatically adjusts its instructions and therapy for pediatric patients.
  • CPR Guidance: Provides verbal instructions and audio cues for appropriate compression number, rate, depth, and ventilation.
  • Automatic Self-Tests: The FRx performs daily, weekly, and monthly automatic self-tests to check the internal circuitry, waveform delivery system, pads, and battery capacity.
  • Rugged & Durable Design: The device is designed for demanding environments and can withstand water jets, dust, a 500 kg crush load, and a 1.22 m drop onto a masonry surface.
  • Training Mode: With Training Pads II, the FRx can be placed into training mode with energy delivery disabled. It supports eight realistic SCA training scenarios.

Patient Analysis & Shock Delivery

The FRx evaluates the patient’s ECG rhythm to determine whether a shock is appropriate. Shockable rhythms include ventricular fibrillation (VF) and certain ventricular tachycardias (VT) associated with lack of circulation.

The Quick Shock feature allows the device to deliver a shock after the last chest compression of a CPR interval, typically within 8 seconds. The typical shock-to-shock cycle time is less than 20 seconds.

Battery & SMART Pads

The standard battery is a 9 V, 4.2 Ah lithium manganese dioxide disposable primary cell. When new, it provides a minimum of 200 shocks or 4 hours of operating time at 25°C. The typical standby life is four years when properly stored and maintained.

The SMART Pads II have an active surface area of 80 cm² per pad, with a 121.9 cm cable. The pads case carries a use-by date of at least two years from manufacture.

Maintenance & Readiness

A blinking green Ready light indicates that the FRx is ready for use. An audible chirp indicates that maintenance may be required. Automatic self-tests help verify internal circuitry, waveform delivery, pads integrity, and battery capacity.

Suitable Applications

The Philips HeartStart FRx AED is designed for emergency preparedness in environments where a compact, rugged, and easy-to-use AED may be required, including healthcare facilities, workplaces, public facilities, educational environments, transport settings, and emergency response locations, subject to local regulations, training, and clinical protocols.

Important: Always use the FRx according to its official Philips instructions, training, and applicable medical protocols. The supplied Philips documentation directs users to the HeartStart FRx AED Owner’s Manual for detailed operating instructions.
